Braintree, MA (March 10, 2020) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring the outbreak of a novel (meaning new) coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which was first detected in Wuhan City, China, and has since spread to 15 additional countries. With 5 cases of coronavirus confirmed in the United States (through January 27, 2020), Peabody believes it prudent for to be prepared for incidents involving 2019-nCoV should they occur.
At Peabody, we understand that residents and clients may have concerns about how our apartment communities are addressing the virus. Peabody is offering general, precautionary guidance from officials, and adding some common-sense guidelines in the interest of promoting a proper amount of caution.
It is important to recognize that Peabody, its affiliates and team members are not health care professionals. The CDC and other qualified health officials should continue to be the primary source of current information and guidance.
Because this is a rapidly evolving situation, Peabody will monitor developments and will continue efforts to secure guidance specific to the operation of rental housing from health officials. Additionally, Peabody will share new information as it becomes available.
All incoming requests (media, etc.) will be directed to CDC and/or local health officials, who are best qualified to answer questions at this time. We are asking our management offices to obtain the proper contact information of the local health authority and/or having the best CDC resources on hand for handling queries from local stakeholders, clients and residents.
