Peabody Properties and Whittier Street Health Center Partner to Bring COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic to Roxse Homes

|

Roxbury and Braintree, MA (February 23, 2021) – Peabody Properties, a group of award-winning property management and real estate firms, in conjunction with Whittier Street Health Center, an urban health and wellness center accredited by the Joint Commission and recognized by the NCQA as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home, recently announced they will hold a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for 150 residents of Roxse Homes this Friday, February 26.

Whittier Street Health Center has secured 150 doses of the Mo derna vaccine for residents of Roxse Homes; the organization will direct the clinic and provide two nurses and one additional staff member to assist with registration. Because the community is comprised of more than 600 residents, Peabody Properties will conduct a lottery for anyone interested in receiving the vaccine and who meets the current eligibility guidelines. Selected residents will be notified Thursday.

Peabody Properties has recently distinguished itself recently by becoming one of the first property management companies to offer COVID vaccination clinics to its senior affordable housing communities throughout the Commonwealth beginning last month.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Peabody Properties on this important initiative,” said Frederica M. Williams, president and CEO of the Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury. “In an effort to increase the vaccination rates in minority communities, we have invested a significant amount of time on internal education for our majority minority staff and external education of community leaders, faith leaders, patients and residents. Close to 85% of our staff have been vaccinated, which is significant given they reflect the BIPOC communities we serve.

“We believe in leading by example, and they will be a good resource to the Roxse residents and many others in the target population,” added Williams.

“We are excited at Roxse Homes for our senior population and those that meet the CDC requirements to protect our surrounding communities to receive the COVID-19 vaccine,” said D’Anthony Clark, representative of the Roxse Tenants Association. “As pressure grows for states to open clinics for individuals getting vaccinated, we are alleviating stress by offering the vaccine at our community.”

“We are so grateful to have found a partner like Whittier Street Health Center for this vital undertaking,” added Melissa Fish-Crane, principal and chief operating officer at Peabody Properties. “This upcoming clinic is not only a significant step in our efforts to ensure residents in all of our communities have vaccine access, but also aligns importantly with the Governor’s recently announced Targeted Outreach Initiative, and we are proud to be able to assist in this most critical effort.”
