Magazine honors the best employers in Massachusetts; Peabody Properties earns recognition for second year in a row

Full-service real estate and property management firm Peabody Properties has been named one of the “Top Places to Work” in Massachusetts in the 11th annual employee-based survey project from The Boston Globe. The “Top Places to Work 2018” issue was published online at Globe.com/topplaces on the night of November 15, and will be published in The Boston Globe Magazine on November 18.

“Top Places to Work” recognizes the most admired workplaces in the state voted on by the people who know them best – their employees. The survey measures employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay, benefits, and engagement. The employers are placed into one of four groups: small, with 50 to 99 employees; medium, with 100 to 249 employees; large, with 250 to 999 employees; and largest, with 1,000 or more employees.

Peabody Properties was ranked 19 (out of 36) in the large employer category.

With more than 40 years of experience as a full-service real estate company, and under the leadership of Principals (and sisters) Karen Fish-Will (CEO) and Melissa Fish-Crane (COO), Peabody Properties, Inc. (PPI) has established a company culture where people are valued, great work is rewarded, and professional development is encouraged through continued training and education. PPI has implemented quarterly Family Days, which are paid-for trips to attractions like whale-watching or apple-picking to enhance social wellbeing among their team members and their immediate families. PPI also continues to offer and encourage continuing education through Peabody University, an in-house classroom that provide employees with several options for enhancing their skills and aptitude. PPI is committed to their employees, rewards their achievements, and strives to foster a positive, supportive, caring, and enjoyable workplace.

“We are so grateful to the Boston Globe for being recognized as a Top Place to Work in Massachusetts for the second year in a row,” said Fish-Will. “Not only is this a great honor, but it is a real reflection of how our team members feel about coming to work every day. Our team is the foundation of our successful business and we know none of this would be possible without them.”

“I could not be more pleased to be honored with this award which really underscores the hard work and commitment of our team members, the real honorees,” added Fish-Crane.

“Making employees happy doesn’t have to take a lot of effort or money, but it does require companies to put workers first,” said Katie Johnston, the Globe’s “Top Places to Work” editor. “Our winning companies know that their people are their most valuable assets.”

The rankings in the “Top Places to Work” are based on confidential survey information collected by Energage (formerly Workplace Dynamics), an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, from nearly 82,151 individuals at 318 Massachusetts organizations. The winners share a few key traits, including offering progressive benefits, giving their employees a voice, and encouraging them to have some fun while they’re at it.
