Celebrating 50 Years of Peabody
In 2026, Peabody marks fifty years of service, leadership, and community impact. This milestone is more than an anniversary — it is a reflection of the values that have guided our work since the beginning.
Founded by Edward A. Fish and carried forward through the leadership of Karen Fish Will and Melissa Fish-Crane, Peabody has always believed that housing is about people. Our mission has never been solely to build or manage homes, but to create stability, dignity, and opportunity for the individuals and families we serve.
As we celebrate five decades of impact, we remain grounded in the same belief that started it all: when people have a place to call home, lives change.
Our Story:
A Legacy Built on Heart
Peabody's story began with a simple but powerful vision — that housing should be rooted in compassion, responsibility, and human connection. Edward A. Fish founded the company with the belief that stable housing strengthens communities and creates opportunity.
That legacy was carried forward through decades of leadership by Karen Fish Will, whose commitment to mission, integrity, and service helped shape Peabody into the organization it is today. Under the leadership of Melissa Fish-Crane, Peabody continues to evolve while staying true to its core values — prioritizing people, fostering strong communities, and leading with heart.
Fifty years later, Peabody is defined not just by the communities we serve, but by the people who make this work possible every day.

Honoring 50 Years with
50 Acts of Kindness
To honor this milestone, Peabody is launching 50 Acts of Kindness, a year-long initiative rooted in service and community connection.
Throughout 2026, our team members, residents, partners, and nonprofit collaborators will come together to complete fifty meaningful acts of kindness across the communities we serve. These moments will reflect the heart of our mission — supporting individuals and families, uplifting communities, and giving back in ways that matter.
Why 50 Acts of Kindness Matters
- A celebration of fifty years rooted in purpose and care
- A collective commitment to kindness, service, and connection
- A continuation of the values that inspired Peabody’s founding
- A tribute to the people and communities who shape our mission every day
Featured Acts of Kindness
Borden Place
Residents came together to create hand‑painted “happy rocks,” each one carrying a message of encouragement, hope, and connection. These small but meaningful tokens will be placed throughout the community at Borden Place as quiet reminders that kindness can be found and shared anywhere.
Peabody Resident Services Department
The Peabody Resident Services Department came together at their January Quarterly Meeting to donate diapers to the Lowell Diaper Bank. The Lowell Diaper Bank supports 120–130 local families each month and distributes between 125,000 and 150,000 diapers annually. We were thrilled to collect donations to support families in need across our local communities. 1,000 diapers were donated by the RSC Department.
The Fairways
Residents of The Fairways in Lakeville showed incredible generosity by donating 100 pounds of food to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Middleboro.
Serving families across Middleboro, Lakeville, Rochester, and Carver, this donation will have a wide-reaching impact. Staff and residents are proud to make this an ongoing effort—supporting our neighbors one donation at a time.
Borden Place and Bedford Towers
Residents from Borden Place and Bedford Towers came together—stitch by stitch—to support the Southcoast Hospitals Group Ambassador Program, which creates baby baskets for newborns and families in need.
Together, they donated: 458 baby & toddler hats, 5 blankets, 17 headbands, 3 dress sets, 15 pairs of booties and 33 matching hat & bootie sets
This heartfelt effort was made possible through yarn purchased via our Regional Wellness Nurse budget, generous donations from residents no longer knitting, families honoring loved ones, and a touching contribution made in memory of a resident’s mother—an avid knitter.
