Melitza Urena Concepcion of Boston named a national winner in K – grade 1 category

Braintree, Boston, MA (August 12, 2026) – The Peabody Companies, a group of award-winning property management and real estate firms now celebrating its 50th anniversary, is thrilled to announce that Melitza Urena Concepcion, a resident of Brownstone Apartments in Boston, has been named a national winner in the National Affordable Housing Management Association’s (NAHMA) 2026 poster and art contest.

The young artist competed against hundreds of others nationwide in the K-1 category to earn a winning spot in this year’s competition. She will receive a $1,000 educational scholarship from the NAHMA Educational Foundation and her artwork will be featured in 2027 NAHMA Drug-Free Kids Calendar.

While the underlying message for the annual contest revolves around a drug-free theme, this year NAHMA expanded the avenue for creative expression by incorporating “Shaping Our Future: Building Stronger Communities Together” as a subtheme.

The poster contest is open to children and senior residents 55 years or older who live in a community of a NAHMA-member company, as well as residents with special needs.

This year, 19 entries were submitted from nine different Peabody properties, with several advancing to New England Affordable Housing Management (NEAHMA) regional round of judging and five – including Melitza – moving on to the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) to take part in the national round.

“To say we are proud of Melitza doesn’t even come close to our delight in this young artist’s achievement,” said Misty Pisani, director of resident and community programs with Peabody Resident Services, Inc. “We are thrilled to celebrate her talent, creativity, and spirit.”

Melitza and her family are residents of Brownstone Apartments in Boston.
