Long-time resident honored for outstanding service 

Braintree, MA and Basking Ridge, NJ (April 10, 2026) – The Peabody Companies, a group of award-winning property management and real estate firms now celebrating its 50th anniversary, is delighted to announce that Greg Cross, one of the original residents at Valley Brook Village in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, has been named the 2025-2026 Elk of the Year by Stirling Elks Lodge 2392.

Cross is one of the original residents of Valley Brook Village, the first of its kind Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) community for homeless veterans.

A member of the Stirling Lodge for the past seven years, Cross serves as Lodge Chaplain. Long before joining the Elks, he was an active volunteer, lending a hand of service when needed. 

Cross took a central role in organizing a Veterans Pantry at the Stirling Elks Lodge and is integral to the New Jersey State Elks Veterans Annex, where he helps unpack and arrange welcome home kits and furniture distributed to veterans throughout the state of New Jersey.  In addition, he is a devoted volunteer at events facilitated by the Elks for special needs children, adults, and veterans.
